  • Consult the client:
This is when you have to talk to the client about the product, this is so the client or company could negotiate with each other about what the product and the prices.
  • Discretion:
This is when someone has the freedom in how they want to tackle the brief, this means that the client will be able to make it however they want as long as the company is happy with it.
  • Constraints:
This is when there could be some ethical issues like the product could be in bad taste and it could offend someone so it could get band so you would have to make sure that it doesn't offend anyone because the product is shown anywhere.
  • Changes to product:
This is the changes that might need to happen to the product, this could be because of copyright issues, if someone makes a similar product to someone else they could get sued because of it for example the shop Sainsbury's made a coke can that was very similar to the coca-cola can, it had  the same colors on it and the design was very similar.
  • Changes to conditions:
This is when things might change to make the product better or so it doesn't have any ethical issues or copyright issues or it could just be because the client or company want to change something about it to make it look better.
  • fees:
This is how much the client will get paid for what they have done to make the product, this price can be negotiated because the client does the product, the client can also be paid some of the fee because the start the product and will get the rest when they are finished with it. The difference between the cost and fees are that the fees are something that a client will get paid while they are making the product but the cost is when the client will get paid when the product if finished and the company is happy with what it is like.

Unit 2 - Communication Skills for Creative Media industries

The to show that I am creating is about a group of 5 people who are trying to survive in an apocalyptic world, they have a lot of problems while doing this, some of the problems that they have to face are supernatural and radioactive people and creatures, they have to fight for their life's every day to survive, but what they don't know is that some of the humans that are left on the earth aren't as good as they thought their y would be, they are actually worse than the radioactive and supernatural creatures.

Market research:

Some of the TV shows that are popular in the same genre that my show is are the walking dead and American horror story. The walking dead is about a zombie apocalypse, there is a group of people, the leader of the group of people is called Rick who was the county sheriff, rick wakes up in an empty hospital after weeks in a comer and woke up alone in the apocalypse. The group has to fight zombies and even people, it shows what everyone's life was like before the apocalypse had started and what their life is like now that the apocalypse has started, it shows how many struggles they will face and how they will survive and work together to keep each other safe. American horror story is a horror-drama TV show, each season is in a new setting with a different story the seasons include murder house, this is about a house that a man and women move into but they don't know the story of this house, the house is known as the murder house because of all the people who got killed in there, the next season is Asylum, this one is about a reporter who wants to interview or just get a murder on camera but there are some things she doesn't know about the people who own the asylum and especially the one who is in charge of it, after the reporter gets in the asylum she realises that she has been assigned to the asylum and has to try and find her way out, the next one is called the coven, it is about a group of witches they are in an academy that is run by about her witch who is also known as a "supreme" and 3 other ones. The walking dead is on the TV channel Fox; it starts at 9pm on Mondays. American horror story is on channel Fox and it starts at 10pm on a Friday. The weekly viewing figures for the walking dead are 1,682 this is 7-day data. The weekly viewing figures for American horror story are 309, both of the shows are quite popular and have a lot of views weekly so the to show that I am creating might do good in views too.
Audience research:
for my TV show the target audience Is for people who are aged 15 to 20 and the gender of people who would watch this would be male and female because it appeals to both genders but mainly males would watch it. The TV show is a bit the same as the walking dead and American horror story. It's like the walking dead because there is an apocalypse and a group of people have to try and survive by looking for food, water, medication and weapons to defend themselves and to stay alive. It is also like American horror story because it is a horror and it has supernatural things in it and crazy people who are trying to kill the humans who are still alive. People like the walking dead because of the story that it tells and the friendship that the characters make in it, it is also directed really well, people like American horror story because ever season has a different storyline so it can be interesting for everyone to watch, the characters are also really good at acting. The walking dead has a target audience of male and females who are aged 15 to 25, this is because the walking dead is aged 15+ because of the gore and the language so younger people won't watch it but teenagers and young adults will.

Production research:
For my TV show I would need 12 actors, they will be a mix of male and female, there will be a group of 5 and a group of 7 and there will be 2 main characters, to produce this TV show, the equipment and crew that I will need to make this are a cameraman to film the TV show, a director to make sure everything goes right on the TV show, To film the TV show the equipment I will need for it is camera equipment so it is easier for the cameraman to actually film the TV show, camera assistant so they can help film the TV show, a microphone and boom operator to make sure that the sound it in good quality and that there isn't any unwanted background sounds, lighting equipment to make sure that the quality on the film recording will look good and so people can also see what's going on but the lighting can also change to fit with the scene, headphones to hear the audio properly because if the people who are doing the audio don't use headphones then it might be hard for them to hear it and to make sure the sound is in good quality, memory sticks for the camera so you can save the video so you can edit in when you have finished filming it and also so you don't lose any of the recordings, stunt doubles so the actual characters don't get injured on the set, we make sure that trained people are doing all the dangerous stunts. The location that my TV show will be in is Los Angeles, I chose this because it is a good location and it will fit in well with what the TV show is about because of the scenery that is there and it will also be good for a horror TV show.

Understanding developing technologies in the television and film industries

Understanding developing technologies in the television and film industries

  • Satellite TV - television broadcasting is a kind of broadcasting delivery, it uses space satellites to deliver singles using things like satellite dishes etc. Satellite TV helps deliver signals in areas where people might not have cable television, for example, sky TV uses this, you can record things that are on sky so that you can watch them when ever you want, but you can only record 2 TV channels at once.

  • Film - film has changes in a lot of different ways, the editing software and editing techniques have changed a lot, there are now a lot of different steps to editing films to make it look a lot more professional, things like £D printing have developed a lot because people can now print out things for sets like props and things for the background.

  • Streaming content and providers - this is when you watch/stream TV shows/movies on things like Netflix or amazon prime. Streaming content and providers are developing a lot because people are making more things to watch movies on and things like Netflix are updating all to time to make it better for people to watch things and the quality of things are getting better too.

  • High definition- this is when you can watch movies that are in Ultra HD, 4k or Blu-ray. High definition is developing a lot because the quality of TV is getting a lot better, before the quality wasn't that good, in 1930s to the 1960 movies and TV shows where mainly black and white, the first TV shows/movies that had colour where made shortly after this.

  • Interactive- this is when you play games that you can interact with for example mobile games, Xbox, Nintendo, etc. These have all changed a lot, the graphics in games have changed a lot for example the first Nintendo that was created in 1985 didn't have good graphics it was usually very pixelated, but now the graphics have improved a lot, for example the Xbox one and the Nintendo switch have a lot of games that have really good quality, it has improved a lot. there is also a lot of features on gaming consoles that what there was before, on the Xbox one you can watch TV shows, watch movies, listen to music and play games, there are also a lot of apps that you can get on the Xbox one for example, youtube, twitch, etc. a lot of other consoles now do that to like the PlayStation 4, wii u, etc. when the PlayStation 1 was created you would have to sit quite close to the TV screen because the controllers where connected to the PlayStation but now you don't have to do that, with things like the Nintendo switch or the wii you can be more active while using it because the wii requires you to stand up so you more space to do things and with the Nintendo switch you can play it wherever you want, with the wii u you can use that wherever you want because it has a screen on it.

unit 3: research techniques for the creative media industries.
Image result for captain america the winter soldier

Table Of Contents:

1) The introduction
2) Overview
3) Main report content
4) The conclusion

Introduction
In this report I will be writing about an overview of the movie Captain America: the winter soldier. The synopsis of the film is; After the cataclysmic events in New York with his fellow Avengers, Steve Rogers, aka Captain America (Chris Evans), lives in the nation's capital as he tries to adjust to modern times. An attack on a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague throws Rogers into a web of intrigue that places the whole world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and a new ally, the Falcon, Rogers struggles to expose an ever-widening conspiracy, but he and his team soon come up against an unexpected enemy.

Overview
Captain America: the winter soldier is the sequel to Captain America: the first avenger and also following on from The Avengers. The directors for Captain America: the winter soldier are Joe Russo and Anthony Russo and the main cast of this film is Chris Evans as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barns, Scarlett Johansson as black widow, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson and more.

Main report content
There is a lot of different types of research techniques that you can use to find out information about this film.

Secondary research
You could use quantitative research to find out what the download numbers are, this will be useful because you can compare the number of downloads to films that are similar to this one for example, Captain America: the first avenger, Avengers age of Ultron and more, this will help find out if the film will have a lot of downloads. The total amount of views on the captain America: the winter soldier trailer is 26,874,580, and on the avengers: age of ultron trailer that got 11,529,349 views.
You could also look at film reviews of the other captain America movies and you will get a bit of an idea about captain America: the winter soldier also look at the comments on the trailer so you will know what people think about what the film will be like.
Primary research
For this you could make questionnaires or surveys about the film to find out what people think about it and what there opinions are of the other captain America films, you could also find interviews of the cast online and you can find information on that about the movie/other captain America films, or you could go onto the website BARB and will find information about the film on there like what the target audience will be for the film and how many people could/will watch it, you will also find out what your audience would want to watch.
Audience research
Audience research is important because you will need to know who your audience will be so you can make the film so your target audience will be interested in what is happening in the film, you will need to find out the ages of the people who will be interested in the film and what the gender the film would interest.
Market research
For this you will need to find out what the genre this film is so you can compare it to other films and find out what the films competition will be, other marvel moves such as the avengers age of ultron and iron man 3 would be the main competition for captain America: the winter soldier. With being in this market of the super hero genre, there is a gap in the market that has been exposed by iron man 3 with it grossing over 1.2billion, this shows that there is a consumer demand for this type of movie. for some film they might go straight onto Netflix, amazon prime, etc. But for this movie it will be going straight onto the cinema.
Production research
Before you film a movie you should chose a place where you want to film it, you will also need to get licences to film in some places, you will also need to get a risk assessment for some places because it might not be safe in some areas, this will make sure that people who are working on the set for example the camera crew and the actors, it will keep them all safe. To film the movie you will need to get all the equipment, depending on the budget of the film the filming equipment could be really good it you have enough money for them all.
Interpreting results
In conclusion it is very important to do all of these steps when creating a movie because it will make sure that the movie will be successful, all of these steps need to be taken serious because if you don't do it then the movies might not be as successful as other movies, a lot of effort goes into creating a film and it would take a while to do this.

unit 16

Assignment 2 - Editing Theory

Development of video editing:

Film started in the 1800's and it had no editing at all because there wasn't generally any storyline, but now there is a lot of editing to make a film. films used to be made in one shot video but now there are a lot of clips that need to be recorded and put together to make a film, there are a lot of different rules for editing that most editors use while editing things to make the film look professional. continuity was a stile of editing that was assembled as a continuous or advanced flow of action and emotions in a film. Another form of editing is the classic Hollywood montage, this is where the editing is hard to see for the viewers, it has the 180 degree rule, witch makes characters that are talking to each other look a lot better, another one is shot reverse shot, this is use so it is easy to understand what is going on, the last one is cuts on action.
Editing has developed so much throughout the years, it has got do much better that it was before.

The purpose of editing:
The purpose of editing is to create a film, it sets the meaning for the film. Editing can also help the film with the narrative, so people will know what the film is about and they will understand what the storyline and the plot is and will get more information about the film, it can be used to build up peoples different emotions about a character. If the film is edited to professional standards it will enable people watching to engage with the film. The editing of a film can be used to bring out emotions in an actors performance within filming, it can also create a point of view on things that happen in the film, it can be used to guide and the pace of the story. the editing can create the illusion of danger when there isn't any so it keeps the person who's watching on the edge of their seat making the film more exciting.

The conventions of editing.
There are a lot of conventions of editing for example continuity editing, this is a technique that is used in the TV and film industry, continuity editing is to make sure that every scene is cut smoothly to the next scene, this makes a logical connection between both of the scenes. In a lot of films logical connections between two shots is achieved by cutting to continuity which gives it a smooth transition. This makes the film look a lot better and more professional. An example of continuity editing is the Britney Spears song Til the world ends, where you can see Britney underground and it switches to above ground.

Another example is jump cuts, this is when two shots of the same subject or item are filmed from different camera angles, then they are cut together quickly, an example of this is from the film Breathless, the film has a lot of jump cuts in it. Jump cuts make it easier to move onto the next clip.

Another example is the 180 degree rule. An imaginary line that is called the axis, connects both of the characters and makes sure that the camera stays on one side without crossing the line, if the camera does cross the axis it is known as crossing or jumping the line. the 180 degree rule enables the audience to connect visually with the movement happening on the screen.

One more Example is shot reverse shot, this is where one character is looking or talking to another character and then the other character looks and talks back to the other character. The shot reverse shot is used because it is faster and a successful way of recording a conversations between two characters without having to pan backwards and forwards all the time. An example of this being used is in the TV show Friends ad Scrubs, they use the shot reverse shot so the audience can fully understand the narrative.

Unit 8

Legal and Ethical obligations in the television and film industries

Contracts:

There are a lot of different types of contracts in the media industries, some of those contracts are for confidentiality, this contract is do people who are working in the media don't do/says tuff that they aren't supposed to. Another contract is to make sure that people will be safe and so they know what they have signed up to.

Legal:

Privacy law (human rights act)

The privacy law is a regulation that provides an individual the right to privacy, for example if someone hacks in to someones phone and finds private information about someone/something like the news of the world phone hacking scandal.

Copyright and intellectual property law

Copyright is when something that someone owns in copyrighted so no one else can use it or make some thing that looks a little bit the same of something that is copyrighted, for example if someone writes a song that is the same as another artists song then that will be copyright, if some one has a legal right to publish or sell something then they can but if they don't then they could get sued. another example is on the hang over 2 when they used Mike Tyson's tattoo, the tattoo artist that make it copyrighted the tattoo.

The British Board of Film Classification

The British Board of film classification is a non-governmental organisation, founded by the film industry in 1912 and responsible for the national classification and censorship of films exhibited at cinemas and video works (such as television programmes, trailers, etc)

Ethical:

Codes of practice

codes of practice is written regulations that are issued by a professional association or an official body who explains how people working in a particular profession should behave, for example when In a video of Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross, they where saying inappropriate words and insults to Andrew Sachs granddaughter, also a news company hacked into peoples phones to find out information and other things from people.

Policies and procedures

Policies and procedures are designed to determine and influence all major decisions and actions, all of the activities take place within the boundaries set by them.

Local Motion:
Local motion is made to try and get people to use public transport like buses or trains, ride bikes or walk more often.
I have been asked to make a poster for local motion, the poster will promote the use of walking, cycling or using public transport instead of using cars. This will be going onto buses or on trains. On this poster there will be images of busses and people walking, there will also be information about what local motion is about.
For the Local Motion poster I will be using text in the size 20 and in the style Arial black in bold,, there are a lot of different type faces for example Serif, Sans Serif, Roman, Gothic and more. I chose Arial black because i thought that it stand out the most. I used a photo of a train on my poster, I got the image from https://railway-news.com/db-regio-order-multiple-unit-regional-trains-siemens/ and it wast a copyright image, I chose an image of the train because local motion is used to encourage people to use public  transport, walk or use a bike than using cars.

Other images that look like the one i have chosen would cost about £6.75 to use it in a large size. I have chose the image of the train on my poster because i thought it fit well with the poster idea that i had, i think that this image is good to use because i think that it will look good for the idea that i have and because it looks like it is in high quality so it will be good to use when i edit it, it is also really clear and big.

To do this I used the polygonal lasso tool to cut the image of the train and when I cut the image of the train I picked a background to use and copy and pasted the image of the train onto the background.

To put the local motion logo onto the poster i saved it from the local motion website and then put it onto my poster, to cut out the white edges of the logo i clicked onto the magic wand tool and then clicked onto the white bits then I pressed delete on the keyboard to get rid of the white corners.

To add the text that is above the train, i use the pen tool to draw a line above the train, after that i clicked onto the text tool and pressed onto the line to add the text to it, i then changed the colour of it to red. for the other 2 texts I right clicked onto the text and pressed onto blending options, after that i clicked on outer glow to create a glow around the text.

My poster is a bit different to the original local motion poster because in the original one some of the images in the background are cartoon but on mine the images aren't cartoon, they are real images. The text on my poster is a bit smaller than the original poster, the are also both different colours, my poster also has some information about what local motion is and what it is about.

short film idea

Short Story-
My short film is going to be a horror, it will be set in a church.

At the start of the film the character will be in the church tidying some things and then she will hear some weird noises coming from the other room, when she goes over to look at what it is there is nothing there but she feels like there is someone in the room staring at her.
She goes back to the room that she was in at first and continues tidying up. After a few minutes she hears a door open and close in a different room, she goes to look at what it is and when she goes to open there is something behind it so she couldn't open the door, after a few attempts of opening it she gives up then goes into the room using a different door, when she gets into the room there is nothing behind the door that she tried to get through at first so she opens the door to make sure no one was on the other side of the door, when she opens the door a black figure runs past her, she turns around to look at whats there but there wasn't anyone there, the light start to flicker, so she runs to the door but it doesn't open.

she is tidying a room, she hears a noise in the other room, she ignores it, the same noise happens again and the light flicker a bit, she goes into the next room to see what it is, when she goes in the lights flicker more and a weird noise comes from behind a door
